Mangatarem, Pangasinan entry champs DSWD – FO1 4Ps Jingle Making Contest
After months of searching, DSWD – FO1’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) finally named its Grand Champion for the 4Ps Jingle Making Contest regional winner along with the conduct of Poster Making Contest and Showcase of Talents relative to the Children’s Month celebration held in Dagupan City on Oct. 27, 2010.
Launched to relay the program’s key message and intensify 4Ps advocacy through music, seven contest pieces from the region’s four (4) provinces qualified and vied to become the regional 4Ps jingle.
The contest was opened to all musical aspirants and enthusiasts from the region. The theme was “Kayang Kaya ng Pinoy tumawid sa Kaunlaran” which highlights the importance of health and education in the fight against poverty.
All entries were judged based on the following criteria: 30% Lyrics; 35 % Musicality and; 35% Originality by jurors composed of 4Ps Regional Deputy Program Manager Nora dela Paz; Dagupan City Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez and Region 1’s renowned voice coach and talent manager Rodel Nuval.
Sales lady Evangeline Aviguetero from Mangatarem, Pangasinan bagged the first prize with her entry “Kayang Kaya” winning her P10,000 cash prize. Parent leader Zenaida Espinosa of Urbiztondo, Pangasinan got the second prize while the third prize went to College student John Carlo Yalong from San Fernando City.
Simultaneously, to unleash their hidden talents, beneficiaries from Pangasinan 4Ps areas also joined the Poster Making Contest for high school students. Bolinao, Pangasinan third year high school student Rolly Tugade won first prize; Mangatarem entry Abegail Sagun got second while the third place was bagged by Agno’s sole entry Mark Rommel Nieto.
On the other hand, children from Bangan – Oda Day Care Center of Agno, Pangasinan graced the event with their interpretative presentation on nature preservation in the Showcase of Talents.
The event is in cooperation with the parents, beneficiaries and Local Governments of the participating entries through the MSWDOs and in coordination with Dagupan City Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez who sponsored the venue for the activity.
Finally, the Jingle Making Contest’s grand winner will be the region’s entry to the upcoming Jingle making national contest to be awarded during the DSWD 60th Anniversary in January 2011. (By: Allan O. Lulu / 4Ps Information Officer)
